Welcome to the TASI website.

Our website is still under construction, but we wanted to share as much information with you as possible while continuing our updating.

TASI's mission is to advance the use of active safety systems to reduce vehicle crashes and save lives.

The Transportation Active Safety Institute (TASI) was founded in February, 2006, and officially recognized as an IUPUI campus-wide center in January, 2007. TASI was one of 10 centers awarded IUPUI Signature Center funding in January, 2008.

With core faculty drawn from nine departments representing seven schools, the Transportation Active Safety Institute (TASI) is a university-wide interdisciplinary center for advanced automotive-safety research and development on the IUPUI campus.

Partnership with industry, government, and non-profit agencies will ensure that university research activities complement existing technologies and address existing and future needs. TASI has built a strong interdisciplinary team, which will allow it to achieve greater efficiency and visibility.

TASI aims to provide a neutral forum for pre-competitive discussion and development of standards and test methodologies for establishing objective benefits of active-safety systems.

2009 Vehicle Active Safety Symposium (VASS 2009) Postponed to 2010.

We regret to announce that as a result of the current economic conditions, we have found it necessary to postpone this first Vehicular Active Safety Syposium until 2010. We sincerely thank all who submitted papers this year and hope to see all of you in 2010.

The 2010 symposium will focus primarily on vehicle active safety systems research and development. It will be held in May, 2010 in Indianapolis, Indiana, USA. Vehicle active safety systems incorporate sensors, driver interface and countermeasures (driver alerts, vehicle dynamics, and occupant protection) in order to anticipate crash scenarios and eliminate or mitigate the impact of these crashes.
